Have you seen someone’s face light up when they are given beautiful, freshly cut flowers?

We’re Liz & Jason, and with our son, we are the family behind Alight, a sustainably-focused cut-flower farm in Keswick, Virginia. We grow specialty varieties as well as timeless favorites.

In 2016, we first broke ground on the farm, with a few rows of sunflowers, cosmos, zinnias, and dahlias. In the years since, our operation has grown to nearly 2 acres of hundreds of varieties of flowers and greenery, with harvests 10 months out of the year. What started as a tentative “what if” has now become our life’s passion.

We hope our flowers fill you with as much joy as they do us. We'd love to have you follow along on our journey @alightflowerfarm on Instagram.

Liz

Our Founder & Farmer Florist, Liz grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania and had plans for a grand flower garden as a child, but by the time she reached adulthood, she was ready to get out into the wide world.  For years, she explored her love for languages, cultures, and art history, but she finally found her calling in the fields and among the flowers at home in Virginia. Liz loves ALL THE FLOWERS and might have a slight addiction to collecting dahlia tubers.

Jason

Our Operations Manager, Jason grew up in city settings, both as a young boy in Florida and as a college student in the Big Apple. But it was while getting his doctorate in English at UVa that he found his love for the pastoral life, raising chickens and growing heirloom tomatoes in a farm-side cabin. Jason’s attention to detail is nothing short of poetry, and his ability to put out operational fires is second to none. His favorite flower is the dahlia, but truth be told he’d rather spend his days surrounded by compost.

JOIN OUR TEAM We are currently hiring for an Alight team member. Flowers are beautiful, but please know that farm work is messy, physically demanding, and happens rain or shine. If you are interested in working for Alight, please fill out our Employment Application.
